What is the paver sealing process?

Sealing pavers is a specialized process that requires expertise and the right tools. Here’s a general overview of what you can expect during the sealing process:

    1. Preparation: The surface is prepared by what we call a 1,2,3 cleaning process to ensure the pavers are ready to be sealed properly.  First, this includes removing any efflorescence, second we apply a cleaning agent to kill any organic growth and third we spray a chemical neutralizer to remove any chemicals used in the first two steps. Now the pavers are ready for joint stabilization

    2. Joint Stabilization: Joint stabilization or what we call “wet sanding” is a process where you hydrocompact sand into the joint’s by using a low pressure nozzle to create a slurry of water and joint sand allowing it to fill the joints in between pavers. This is the most effective and efficient way to make sure the joints are tight and compacted. Joint sand helps to prevent weed growth and maintain the structural integrity of the paver installation.

    3. Application of Sealer: A professional-grade sealer is applied evenly to the cleanedsurface. Depending on the type of sealer used (such as solvent-based or water-based), multiple coats may be applied to achieve the desired level of protection and enhancement.

    4. Curing: The sealer is allowed to cure according to manufacturer’s instructions, usually for 24 to 48 hours. During this time, it’s important to keep the area free from foot traffic and water exposure.

    5. Final Inspection: Once cured, a final inspection ensures that the sealer has been applied uniformly and that the pavers look their best.
